Jan’s academic credentials and training accomplishments include a BHSc. degree in emergency pre-hospital care, an advanced care paramedic diploma, a certificate in Leadership Development Program through U of S, and the completion of a comprehensive medical simulation instructor program through Harvard University and MIT. Jan also holds a certificate in Investigating and Managing Adverse Events through he University of Calgary. Jan has directed a significant amount ofher personal and professional development to improving patient safety and decreasing medical errors.
Jan’s front-line paramedic experience of 20 years includes a variety of roles at MD Ambulance including leadership roles and also working at RUH emergency department, Saskatchewan Air Ambulance and being part of the development team for the Health Bus.
Jan is currently Co-Chair of both the ITLS SK Advisory committee the ITLS Education Committee. She has also been on the COPR Examination Working Group and Examination Development Group since 2011 and is currently on the COPR examination Advisory Group and the COPR examination Re-Boot Advisory Group.
Jan has directed a significant amount of her personal and professional development to the growth and refinement of leadership capacity. In addition to completing formal training in this area, Jan has provided mentorship to a wide variety of individuals, informally, as well as thorough an established mentorship program at the University of Saskatchewan. Jan enjoys traveling, camping, swimming, cycling and spending time at the lake with her family.
