Look How Far We've Come
How we started
SIMS was born from a deeply personal and tragic experience—my mom passed away due to a preventable medical error. In my grief, I kept asking, “Why? How could this happen?” That relentless curiosity led to research, reflection, and even more questions. I discovered simulation as a powerful tool to improve patient safety and reduce harm. My mindset shifted from “Why did this happen?” to “What happened? Why? And how do we prevent it?” That’s when SIMS was born.

SIMS Grand Opening
On June 26, 2014 the Saskatoon Institute for Medical Simulation (SIMS) officially opened its doors! Many dignitaries and healthcare professionals from across the province gathered to celebrate the launch of Saskatchewan’s first private medical simulation centre.

Another step in the SIMS journey
SIMS expands into a larger simulation and training centre, featuring three simulation labs, and a dedicated classroom/training room, and multiple offices. This expansion is designed to accommodate the increasing demand for high-quality training and education.

SIMS moves office again...
In 2024, SIMS expanded into a 10,000-square-foot simulation and training center, providing a cutting-edge learning environment. The facility now includes four large classrooms, four simulation labs, a simulation apartment, and a training garage. These enhancements are designed to elevate the educational experience and provide learners with immersive, hands-on training opportunities.
