Complete the online modules prior to the course, at your own time and pace. Includes the ACLS Provider manual (eBook) as well as the ACLS blended content. Modules could take between 2-6 hours. Students will have access to the content until the next course renewal.
Please note that you only have 2 attempts at passing the Online ACLS exam, if unsuccessful, you will need to purchase another Blended Key- you can not attend the in-class session without passing the online exam.
In-person Skills Training
Upon completion of the online modules, attend a 1-day instructor-led in-class for hands-on skills training and practice.
The blended learning format allow you to start the curriculum on your own time and work at your your own pace and then take the instructor-led, in-classroom component when you’re ready.
ACLS
Course
The ACLS Provider Renewal course leverages an ACLS provider’s existing clinical skills, knowledge and proficiency. The following competencies are expected of students entering an ACLS Provider Renewal course:
Total course takes approximately 8 hours
The first portion of the course will be completed via online videos
High-quality BLS
Recognition of common cardiac ECG rhythms
Effective airway management and use of adjuncts
Knowledge of cardiac pharmacology
Practical management of complex cases
High-performance team skills
Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) Course is designed for healthcare professionals who either direct or participate in the management of cardiopulmonary arrest or other cardiovascular emergencies.
This course is designed for personnel in emergency response, emergency medicine, intensive care, and critical care units such as physicians, nurses, respiratory therapists and paramedics, as well as others who need an ACLS course completion card for their job or other requirements.
Current Heart & Stroke BLS Provider certification required (Current within 12 months)
Current Heart & Stroke ACLS Provider certification (Current within 24 months)
The Blended Key gives you 12 month access to the ACLS eBook through Heart and Stroke.
Course Completion Card is issued by the Heart & Stroke Foundation
Completion card expires two years from date of issue
Completion card is accessible by logging onto student account on Heart & Stroke Portal
Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada
Eligible for two (2) credits per hour under Section 2 of the MOC Program as “Traineeships”.
College of Family Physicians of Canada
Eligible for two Mainpro+ Certified credits per hour.
