Begin your career in Emergency Medical Services with our new 310-hour Emergency Medical Responder (EMR) Program. Designed to provide maximum flexibility without compromising hands-on learning, this hybrid program combines 98 hours (2.5 weeks) of online education with 200 hours (5 weeks) of in-class instruction, skills training, and high-fidelity simulation. Students are required to complete a minimum 12 hour practicum after the course (ambulance service, community clinic, or high fidelity simulation).
The first two and a half weeks provide a flexible online learning experience where students build a strong foundation in:
- Anatomy and physiology
- Patient assessment
- Medical terminology
- Emergency medical management
- Emergency trauma management
- Medical and ethical issues
- Professional practice.
- Emergency driving
- Safe lifting and moving priniciples
Learners then transition into 5 weeks of face-to-face education, where theory is transformed into practice through immersive skills labs and realistic clinical scenarios.
Students train in our approx. 10,000 square foot training facility featuring:
- High-fidelity patient simulators
- Fully equipped simulation apartment that recreates real-world medical emergencies in the home
- Emergency vehicle driving simulator that develops safe emergency response driving skills and hazard awareness.
- Student lounge with kitchen and coffee bar

- Large classrooms featuring fully-equipped Audio/Visual technology
These experiences allow students to apply their knowledge in realistic settings while building confidence, teamwork, communication, and clinical decision-making before entering the workforce.
Instruction is delivered by experienced paramedics, nurses, and subject matter experts who bring decades of frontline emergency care experience into every classroom and simulation. Small class sizes and individualized coaching ensure every learner develops the knowledge, skills, and professionalism required to succeed in today's emergency medical services environment.
Upon successful completion, graduates are workforce ready and equipped with the certifications employers expect, including;
- Emergency Medical Responder Certificate (Saskatchewan College of Paramedics approved)
- Heart & Stroke Basic Life Support (BLS)
- International Trauma Life Support (ITLS Basic)
- Emergency Driving Simulation
- Mental Health and Wellness Training
- N95 FIT Test
- Canadian Organization of Paramedic Regulators (COPR) Prep exam
Graduates will have the knowledge and confidence to be successful in writing the National Competency exam and will be setup to pursue registration as an Emergency Medical Responder and begin a rewarding careers with ambulance services, industrial employers, event medical providers, and other emergency response organizations.
