The EMR Bridge Course is designed to meet the updated Scope of Practice requirements established by the Saskatchewan College of Paramedics. All registered EMRs must complete approved training to practice within the expanded scope.
This comprehensive program ensures EMRs are prepared to safely, confidently, and compliantly apply their enhanced clinical responsibilities in provincial ambulance services, industrial settings, and rural environments.

The EMR Bridge Course includes:
Online Learning Component
Self-paced modules covering:
3-Lead ECG monitoring
Nasopharyngeal airway review
Hemostatic dressings and prioritized hemorrhage control
Fracture reduction principles
Monitoring IV crystalloid infusions (no additives)
Ostomy, nasogastric tube, and urinary catheter monitoring
EMR medication administration updates
Documentation and error reporting requirements
Participants must complete all online modules and print their certificate of completion prior to attending the in-person session.
In-Person Skills Session (Mandatory)
Delivered at the Saskatoon Institute for Medical Simulation (SIMS), this session focuses on:
Hands-on skills validation
Scenario-based application
Clinical decision-making within EMR scope
Competency assessment and documentation review
EMR currently registered with SCoP
You will receive a course completion certificate after completing the online modules and will receive another course completion certificate after attending the In-person skills session.
You must submit these certificate to SCoP if you are claiming CME credits ONLY.
