PALS Blended Learning has 2 components:

Online Learning

Complete the online modules prior to the course, at your own time and pace. Includes the PALS Provider manual (eBook) as well as the PALS blended content. Modules could take between 2-6 hours. Students will have access to the content until the next course renewal. 

Please note that you only have 2 attempts at passing the Online PALS exam, if unsuccessful, you will need to purchase another Blended Key- you can not attend the in-class session without passing the online exam.

In-person Skills Training

Upon completion of the online modules, attend a 1-day instructor-led in-class for hands-on skills training and practice.

The blended learning format allow you to start the curriculum on your own time and work at your your own pace and then take the instructor-led, in-classroom component when you’re ready.

This course is designed to give students the opportunity to practice and demonstrate proficiency in the following skills used in resuscitation:

  • Pediatric systematic approach
  • High-quality CPR (Basic Life Support)
  • Respiratory emergencies and early interventions
  • Shock emergencies and early interventions
  • Cardiopulmonary arrest and early interventions
  • Arrhythmias
  • Post–cardiac arrest management
  • Multi-rescuer resuscitation and team dynamics

Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) Course is designed for healthcare professionals who either direct or participate in the management of cardiopulmonary arrest or other cardiovascular emergencies.

This course is designed for personnel in emergency response, emergency medicine, intensive care, and critical care units such as physicians, nurses, respiratory therapists and paramedics, as well as others who need an PALS course completion card for their job or other requirements.

  • Current Heart & Stroke BLS Provider certification required (Current within 12 months)
  • Current Heart & Stroke PALS Provider certification (Current within 24 months)
  • PALS pre-course self-assessment certificate. Requires a passing score of 70% or higher to print certificate. (Must be completed prior to attending the in-person class)

An Online Key will be emailed within 3 weeks of your course date to access/complete the online component as well as 12 month access to the ACLS eBook.

If you are booking into a course within 3 weeks of the course date your Online Key will be emailed to you within 1-2 business days

ACLS Course = $450.00 + Heart and Stroke Blended Key = $85.00

The Blended Key gives you 12 month access to the ACLS eBook through Heart and Stroke.

  • Course Completion Card is issued by the Heart & Stroke Foundation
  • Completion card expires two years from date of issue
  • Completion card is accessible by logging onto student account on Heart & Stroke Portal
  • Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada 
  • College of Family Physicians of Canada Heart & Stroke PALS Provider course eligible for two Mainpro+ Certified credits per hour.
  • Other Colleges / Regulatory Bodies Heart & Stroke courses are recognized across Canada. We are committed to continuous assessment and accreditation. Check with your college or professional affiliation to see if this course is eligible for credits.
